Céline Dion Announces Paris Concerts After Six-Year Health Hiatus

Céline Dion is stepping back onto the stage.

The Canadian superstar made an Instagram post announcing her comeback after being diagnosed with Stiff Person Syndrome in 2022.

The comeback will feature 10 concerts in Paris, spread between September and October.

Céline Dion’s Announcement

Dion shared her news through a video on Monday.

“I wanted to let you know that I’m doing great, managing my health. I’m feeling good, I’m singing again, even doing a little bit of dancing, obviously, I love it so much. But I have to tell you something very important,” she said. F

eeling gratitude for her fans, she has felt the “prayers and support” over the last few years after diagnosis. Then came the surprise. Dion announced she was “getting the best birthday gift of [her] life.”

“I’m getting the chance to see you, to perform for you once again in Paris, beginning in September. I’m so ready to do this. I’m feeling good, I’m strong, I’m feeling excited, obviously a little nervous, but most of all, I’m grateful to all of you.”

She finished by saying, “I can’t wait to see you all again.”

Stiff Person Syndrome Diagnosis

Céline Dion’s diagnosis of Stiff Person Syndrome came back in 2022.

The condition is “a rare autoimmune neurological disorder that most commonly causes muscle stiffness and painful spasms that come and go and can worsen over time.”

During an emotional video, Dion announced the news, stating, “I’ve been dealing with problems with my health for a long time, and it’s been really difficult for me to face these challenges and to talk about everything that I’ve been going through.”

While she originally postponed some concerts on her “Courage World Tour,” Dion ultimately had to cancel the tour to protect her health.

Recent Performances

However, her diagnosis has not stopped Dion from slowly making her way back into the spotlight.

After two years out of the public eye, Dion performed at the 2024 Olympic Games opening ceremony with a version of Edith Piaf’s “Hymne a l’amour.”

Then, in November 2024, she performed “The Power of Love” and “I’m Alive” at the 1001 Seasons of Elie Saab fashion show in Saudi Arabia.

Both sets of performances led to speculation about the superstar one day returning to the big stage.

10 Shows in Paris

Céline Dion teased her concerts in Paris through several tactics, one of which was plastering her best-known songs around town. There was also an overnight test run on the Eiffel Tower, which lit up with the words “Céline Dion, Paris, Je Suis Prête,” which means, “Céline Dion, Paris, I’m Ready.”

Now that the announcement is out, so are the details. Dion will be performing 10 shows starting in September. There are two concerts a week at the La Défense Arena, starting September 12th, with the last performance on October 14th.

Pre-sale tickets for the shows go on sale on April 7th, with the general sale opening on April 10th.
