The Reason Why Tiger Woods Refuses a Driver Even After Fourth Crash

Tiger Woods just had his fourth car crash, but he’s in no hurry to hire a driver. Privacy wins out for the celebrity golfer.

Refusing a Driver

Two days after Woods’ latest DUI arrest, a source shared information with People.

They claimed Woods “doesn’t want anyone to watch over him or know what he is doing,” including a driver. The source added, the golfer “thinks he is fine to drive.”

Woods is very private and dislikes any negative attention.

“He is not a social butterfly and prefers to hang around his home with his kids, or hitting balls, or playing video games,” the source explained. “He despises public scrutiny.”

Latest Car Crash

Woods’ car crash occurred on March 27th, involving his Land Rover and a pressure-cleaning truck pulling a small trailer. He attempted to pass the truck and clipped the vehicle’s trailer, leading to a rollover crash.

Woods crawled out of his overturned SUV from the passenger door.

When authorities got there, they believed he was under the influence of “some type of medication or drug.” Woods earned a DUI with property damage charge and a refusal to submit to a lawful test charge.

The police chief confirmed Woods “did exhibit signs of impairment,” but added authorities “were not suspicious of alcohol being involved in this case, and that proved to be true at the jail,” as Woods blew “triple zeroes” for the breathalyzer test.

Woods was released from custody at the Martin County jail the same day.

Response from Girlfriend

Tiger Woods was not with his girlfriend, Vanessa Trump, during the time of the accident.

Vanessa is “disappointed” and “pissed” and is reportedly “not happy at all.” People shared, “He has to get things under control, or she’s not going to stick around.”

While Vanessa has posted on her social media account since the accident, none of the posts mention her beau’s scandal.

History of Crashes

As mentioned above, Woods is no stranger to car crashes.

His most recent crash was in February 2021, where Woods survived a near-fatal car crash while going over 80 mph in a 45 mph zone. He required emergency surgery and months of rehab, along with several subsequent surgeries to treat ankle and back pain.

His last crash with an arrest was back in 2017. Woods was asleep at the wheel with his engine running. His DUI charge was reduced to reckless driving in a plea deal.

Woods attributed his behavior to an “unexpected reaction to prescribed medications,” writing in a statement, “I understand the severity of what I did and take full responsibility for my actions. I want the public to know that alcohol was not involved.”

Woods’ other headline car crash took place in 2009, when he hit a fire hydrant in a neighbor’s yard.
