Surgery went well.
Savannah Guthrie has resurfaced on her Instagram account, reassuring her fans that her procedure to remove vocal nodules and a polyp was successful.
Though she can’t talk, the TODAY show anchor displayed a whiteboard reading, “All good! Thanks for prayers and love!” The photo was captioned with the text “See you soon! 💛” and the love has been pouring in from fellow co-anchors and fans.
Guthrie officially announced the surgery on December 19th during the “3rd Hour of Today.”
Sitting next to her co-anchors, she revealed: “Some of you have noticed that my voice has been very scratchy and started to crack a little bit. Well, I have found out what it is. I have vocal nodules and I also have a polyp. It’s not a big, big deal, but I am going to have to have a surgery in the new year and be off for a couple of weeks.”
The 53-year-old has since been off the show, taking her time recovering. The best part? She has to rest her voice, and that means no speaking.
Fortunately, Guthrie is having some fun with it, telling her co-hosts, “You’ll love this, guys. I have to be silent for a couple of weeks, totally silent. Christmas coming early for my family.”
Guthrie has been dealing with the ailment “for years” and is “really excited” to address the problem and fix her voice. She even commented that many of her dedicated fans might think she had “the world’s longest head cold.” In reality, it’s just some vocal nodules and a polyp.
Fellow NBC anchor Shienelle Jones completely understands Guthrie’s position, as she had the same issue a few years prior. Jones assured Guthrie the surgery is “in and out” and “no big deal.”

In a show of good faith, Jones gifted Guthrie a whiteboard (the same one she used during recovery) to use to communicate when she wouldn’t be able to speak.
Wrapped in a big red bow, it seems as if Guthrie’s getting good use out of it by sharing with her fans her recovery.
At the end of the segment where Guthrie announced her surgery, she and Jones joked about singing. While Guthrie commented that she lost her singing voice before her speaking one, she remains optimistic: “Who knows? Guys, the tour is happening in 2026.”
All we can hope is that recovery continues to go well for Guthrie. Hopefully, she will appear on the TODAY show as soon as possible.
