Britney Spears’ First Calls After DUI Arrest Were to Her Mom and Sons

Britney Spears was arrested for a DUI on Wednesday night in Ventura County, California.

She has since been released from jail and has spoken to her mom and sons.

Connecting with Mother and Sons

Britney Spears was released from jail Thursday morning, and her mom, Lynne Spears, called her as soon as she learned the news about the arrest.

Lynne reached out to offer support and anything her daughter might need during this time. Sources claim the conversation was “positive” and “hopeful.” Lynne has been praying for her daughter, and the pair plan to see each other soon.

They have been on good terms since an in-person reunion in May 2023. They speak on the phone often, too.

Along with her mother, Britney spoke with her sons Sean Preston and Jayden James.

Britney and Lynne’s Past

While their relationship may be on better footing now, Britney and Lynne have many ups and downs in their past. Much of the bad blood centers on Britney’s conservatorship.

In 2021, Britney claimed, “my dad may have started the conservatorship 13 years ago … but what people don’t know is that my mom is the one who gave him the idea! I will never get those years back. She secretly ruined my life.”

The bad blood continued into 2022 when Britney got married to Sam Asghari. Lynne was reportedly not invited.

Later that year, Lynne requested that Britney unblock her from social media, to which Britney posted, “take your apology and go f*** yourself … I pray you all burn in hell!”

In 2023, everything seemed to shift to a more positive light when the pair had a pleasant meeting.

However, a report from US Weekly from September 2025 claims the relationship is “complicated” and “very fragile.”

Spears Arrested

Britney Spears was arrested on suspicion of DUI on Wednesday night. She was released on Thursday morning, with a court date set for May 4th.

According to Page Six News, dispatch audio reveals Spears was swerving and speeding before her arrest.

“Black BMW sedan in and out of lanes… speeding,” the audio says. “2026 convertible out of LA.”

The cops were able to pull the car over and get the driver “out of the vehicle.” They also requested a DRE (officer who identifies an impaired driver) and a vehicle tow.

Her manager, Cade Hudson, later released a statement to the press.

“This was an unfortunate incident that is completely inexcusable. Britney is going to take the right steps and comply with the law and hopefully this can be the first step in long overdue change that needs to occur in Britney’s life. Hopefully, she can get the help and support she needs during this difficult time.”

Hudson added, “Her boys are going to be spending time with her. Her loved ones are going to come up with an overdue needed plan to set her up for success for well being.”
