Pawn Stars star Corey Harrison may be on the mend after a scary accident, but his troubles aren’t over yet.
The reality star is looking for financial help after a mountain of medical bills, and a long recovery drained his bank account.
While some of his friends and family have helped, Harrison now has a GoFundMe to get back on his feet.
Corey Harrison’s Accident
Corey’s accident happened back in January. The terrifying ordeal in Tulum left Harrison with 11 fractured ribs, a concussion, and facial injuries.
Harrison originally shared with TMZ that he spent two weeks in the hospital before prematurely checking himself out due to escalating costs. However, this led to more health troubles.
While trying to recuperate at his Tulum home, Harrison experienced excruciating pain. A house doctor administered IV fluids and morphine, though they didn’t do much.
As his oxygen levels dropped, emergency treatment was a must, and his friends took him to a more affordable facility. Once there, Corey underwent three surgeries and spent 18 more days in the hospital.
Missed Father’s Wedding
Rick Harrison and Agripina “Angie” Polushkin married on January 3rd at the Little White Wedding Chapel in Las Vegas. Afterwards, they dined at Harrison’s restaurant, Rick’s Rollin Smoke BBQ & Tavern.
Unfortunately, his son didn’t make it to the wedding.
A representative for Rick confirmed to Entertainment Weekly that Corey “missed Rick’s wedding,” due to his injuries.
He added that Corey “will recover fully but will be on bed rest for 6 weeks while he heals.” Rick did go to see him in the hospital before he was released.
Drained Accounts
While Corey is now out of the hospital and resting at home, the medical bills he’s accrued are quite substantial.
He claims he spent between $120,000 and $130,000 in accumulated medical bills, stretching his wallet to its limit. Corey now has drained personal funds, $400 in his bank account, and is in debt to family and friends who helped out.
Now, he’s looking in another direction to help cover the costs and get him back on his feet.
Reaching Out to Friends & Family
A GoFundMe has been created on behalf of Corey with a goal of $18,000. The money will help get Harrison back on his feet.
Aron Chambers created the page and is a friend and co-worker of Corey’s. In the description, he wrote: “Friends, including myself, maxed out credit cards just to keep his treatment going.”
While Corey is reluctant to ask fans for help with his bills, he stated,” What am I going to do, fly out to Vegas and sell stuff? I can’t move from my recliner.”
He may receive some residual checks from reruns of Pawn Stars, but Corey claims he’s now completely removed from the show.
While his father, Rick Harrison, hopes to see the show come back after the hiatus, his son isn’t in the same boat.
“At this stage of the game, we’re all playing a character on Pawn Stars,” he commented. “I can’t play another season of 41-year-old me pretending to be 23.”
So, what are his father’s thoughts about helping out?
Rick Harrison told TMZ, “Corey is a grown man and he will deal with his life as he sees fit.”
Hopefully, Corey will find the funds to get back on his feet and pay off those who helped him during his time of need.
