Chrissy Teigen Talks Keeping the Spark Alive After 12 Years Married

Marriages are not always full of sunshine and rainbows.

However, Chrissy Teigen and her husband John Legend seemed to have cracked the code, celebrating a 12-year successful marriage filled with “perfect imperfections.”

On January 20th, she appeared on E! News to talk about the new show Star Search alongside one of her cohosts, Sarah Michelle Gellar. One of the topics they covered was keeping a long and healthy relationship. Learn more below.

All About the Little Things

The real key lies in doing the “little things” to express love and affection for your significant other.

During the interview, she told E! News The Rundown host Erin Lim Rhodes, “…it is little things like that. You’ve got to keep it sexy and preserve the sexy in a little bit of ways.”

While there are many ways to do this, Teigen jokingly commented about one of them. “For all he knows, I have never farted or pooped.”

John Legend may not always keep up the illusion and the spark at home, but Teigen makes sure she does to enliven their love for each other.

Though it must be said that Legend has his own ways of swaying hearts, coming out with the hit song All of Me that has since become a staple ballad for romance.

Wisdom from Friends

The joint interview gave Sarah Michelle Gellar a chance to share her own marital advice for maintaining a long-lasting marriage.

After 23 years of marriage to Freddie Prinze Jr., she joked and said that “separate bathrooms” are the magical key to a long-term relationship.

Finding compromise in a relationship is super important if you want it to last for a long time.

Children Advice

Sarah Michelle Gellar didn’t just provide marital advice; she talked about Teigen’s children, too. As a mother to two teenagers, Gellar encouraged Teigen to let her and John’s kids discover their own passions.

“When they find their ‘thing,’ you know,” Gellar elaborated.

The comment came after Teigen joked that she and John’s 10-year-old daughter Luna is “all over the place” when it comes to her hobbies.

Gellar even provided an example with her own child, 13-year-old Rocky, who “wants to be an F1 driver.” “That’s his dream. He studies cars and he holds the record at every K1 in Los Angeles,” she continued.

As for Luna’s interests, they are a little more scattered. “She loves ice skating, she loves dance, she loves cooking,” Chrissy stated. “Every Sunday morning, she’s down at the rink. She loves it, but there’s nothing that she really wants to devote her entire life to.”
