Popular comedians and actors Ali Wong and Bill Hader have split after being together for over two years.
The pair went public with their relationship in April 2023, but it is now no more. Keep reading to learn more about the split and how their relationship began below.
Reason for the Split
As for many stars, coordinating schedules can be very difficult when dating, especially when the significant other also commits to several projects.
As for Ali Wong and Bill Hader, they fell into this trap. The pair struggled to find time together while dealing with busy schedules and family obligations.
An insider commented, “It was too difficult to make the relationship work with Ali’s upcoming stand up tour and Bill’s various film and tv projects this year.”
Instead, the pair is deciding to split and “focusing on their work and kids, while continuing to support and root for each other.”
Fortunately for them, the end of their romantic relationship has not hurt their connection. The pair remain “very amicable,” and they are “very much friends and still in touch.”
Public Outings

The couple was seen at many large public outings throughout their relationship. One event was the premiere of Peacock’s Laid in December 2024.
Earlier in the year, in January 2024, the pair also made an appearance at the Golden Globes. During the ceremony, Wong won an award for her role in Beef, and Hader kissed her before she made her way to the stage.
As for 2025, the tide changed. Rumors about the couple circulated after Wong attended the 2025 Golden Globes without Hader, and didn’t mention him in her speech after she won for her role in Single Lady.
However, some of the rumors disappeared when Hader’s rep said he missed the show due to an eye issue, and that Wong and Hader were still a couple. Flash forward to a year later, and the pair have made their split official.
The End of a Rekindled Romance
Wong and Hader briefly dated in 2022, but rekindled their relationship in April 2023. This followed Wong’s separation from ex-husband Justin Hakuta one year prior, with the divorce finalized in May 2024.
In her Netflix special, Ali Wong: Single Lady, released in October 2024, Wong shared the story of how she and Hader came to be. Hader reached out first when he found out she was getting a divorce.
After getting her phone number from a mutual friend, Hader told her that he had a crush on her “forever” and asked her to be his girlfriend.
Funnily enough, Wong had just paid for a dating app, so she wanted to get her money’s worth first. During that period, Wong traveled to Europe, and Hader actually sent her flowers at each hotel she went to.
She explained the situation in her special, stating, “I did fall in love again. Some of you might know who the guy is. And it just so happens to be the man who sent me all those flowers in Europe.”
