Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan Finally Close 6-Year Divorce Battle

Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan will each receive a share of the other’s retirement benefits as part of their finalized divorce settlement, according to newly filed court documents.

TMZ broke the news on December 1, reporting that the former couple will split their Screen Actors Guild pension credits earned during their marriage, giving each 50 percent of what the other built up between 2009 and 2018. That means their retirement plans are now permanently tied together, even though their marriage ended back in 2018, after nine years of marriage.

The financial settlement to actually close the divorce did not arrive until September 2024, six years after the breakup, as the case wound its way through the courts. New paperwork filed in Los Angeles finally spells out how the retirement money and other financial pieces are distributed.

Multiple outlets including People and Page Six confirm that these pension terms are one of the final pieces of a settlement that already saw the two waive spousal support and avoid a full blown trial.

What changed?

According to reports from People and Page Six, it was disputes over profits from Tatum’s Magic Mike franchise that dragged the case out for years. Dewan argued that the franchise was developed during the marriage and co-financed with marital funds, and that she was owed a proper share of the profits. Tatum’s side pushed back, saying he had not hidden money or kept her from what she was due.

People reported that the new documents, by clarifying the retirement split and other financial details, effectively closed the chapter on the Magic Mike money dispute that had hovered over the case.

What continues?

Everly, their 12 year old daughter, is at the center of the most personal part of the agreement, with both parents sharing joint legal and physical custody under terms first set when the divorce was formally settled last year.

Page Six noted that any future disputes about child support will go back in front of a judge rather than playing out in the press. Channing has admitted in past interviews that sharing custody has been emotionally difficult, even as he and Jenna work to keep things steady for their child.

Modern celebrity endings

Away from the spreadsheets and pension formulas, both actors have been building new lives. People notes that Dewan has been engaged to actor Steve Kazee since 2020, and they now share two young children together, while continuing to co-parent Everly with Tatum. Reports from People and Page Six suggest that Tatum, who was previously engaged to Zoë Kravitz, is now dating model Inka Williams as he moves forward with his own next chapter.

According to the latest filings, the numbers are now clear, the custody plan is in place, and everyone involved is officially free to keep living the lives they have already started building. For fans who remember that first dance in Step Up, it is one more reminder that even the most picture perfect Hollywood love stories can end in long, complicated negotiations that stretch far beyond the closing credits.

I remember when I was growing up, we mostly heard about celebrity divorces in a short magazine blurb, not through detailed court documents that break down pension credits and future income streams. Seeing a kid’s life divided into custody schedules and legal language like this lands with a different weight, especially for people who have watched this family from their Step Up days. It feels strangely clinical.
