Jada Pinkett Smith Seeks Dismissal of $3M Suit Tied to Will Smith Rumors

Jada Pinkett Smith is asking a California court to dismiss a $3 million lawsuit.

Filed by Bilaal Salaam in December 2025, the former friend of Will Smith alleges that Pinkett Smith threatened him at a hotel.

Pinkett Smith Denying Claims

The new motion, originally obtained by People, reveals Pinkett Smith asking the court to strike Salaam’s complaint entirely.

She alleges the lawsuit violates California’s anti-SLAPP statute. The statute “provides a procedure for weeding out, at an early stage, meritless claims arising from protected activity,” according to the motion.

During an interview with The Breakfast Club, Pinkett Smith even calls Salaam’s claims “nonsense.” She also talked to TMZ after her interview, telling the news outlet “we’re suin” in response to Salaam’s allegations.

In Pinkett Smith’s motion, it reads, “Plaintiff voluntarily gave media interviews claiming – without evidence – that he personally witnessed her husband, actor Will Smith, engaging in sexual acts. Plaintiff’s allegations were false, uncorroborated, and made to generate attention as part of an ongoing public campaign of harassment directed at Defendant and her family.”

The motion goes on to allege that Salaam publicly disclosed the contents of a cease and desist letter from the Smiths.

“That letter was not a public statement at all. It was classic pre-litigation activity – confidential legal correspondence sent by counsel in anticipation of litigation – and is independently protected under California law.”

The $3 million Lawsuit

Salaam claims Pinkett Smith threatened him at a hotel. This was after he walked in on her and Will Smith engaging in a sexual act with actor Duane Martin.

He shared this alleged information during an episode of the Unwine With Tasha K podcast, according to People.

After he shared the information, Salaam alleged that Pinkett Smith confronted him in the lobby of the Regency Calabasas Commons in September 2021.

During the altercation, Pinkett Smith allegedly told Salaam that he would “end up missing or catch a bullet.”

Salaam’s Other Complaints

This was not the only complaint Salaam made about the Smith family, either.

In his initial complaint, Salaam alleged that Duane Martin contacted him to aid Smith and Pinkett Smith. They needed assistance with “crisis management” after Will Smith slapped Chris Rock in an unforgettable moment from the 2022 Academy Awards ceremony, and the following fallout.

Salaam claims he performed tasks that he believed were “illegal, unethical, or morally compromising.” If he refused to help, Salaam would face “serious problems.”

It wasn’t just Smith and Pinkett Smith throwing threats around either. Salaam alleged he received threats from multiple people in the pair’s circle. He then became the target of a “retaliatory campaign” that was “launched against him.”

Subsequent threats flowed in after it was discovered Salaam was writing a “whistleblower memoir” about his time with the Smiths.
