Patrick Muldoon‘s memory lives on through a video captured just a day before his sudden death at 57 years old.
His sister, Shana Muldoon Zappa, shared the last video her family received from her brother on social media.
Group Chat Video
Shana Muldoon Zappa, Patrick’s sister, shared the clip on Instagram on Wednesday.
She captioned the post, “This was the last video my brother sent to our constant family group chat — from Sat night at LACMA opening.”
In the footage, Muldoon is giving a mini tour of the art gallery, viewing paintings such as Saint Ignatius of Loyola’s Vision of Christ and God the Father at La Storta by Domenico Zampieri.
When looking at the Loyola painting, Muldoon commented, “It’s a beautiful painting,” before breaking out into a chant from his Loyola High School football days.
He added, “I think that’s what he was thinking in the picture, actually.”
Zappa noted in her caption that Muldoon “loved St. Ignatius because he was kind of the cool guy, good time guy who was still able to become a saint.”
She continued, “As always, he jokes… and yet profoundly brings all the things into one moment- the joke-ster, the artist, the football player, and the intensely spiritually connected, Jesuit educated, incredible being that is Patrick Muldoon.”
Zappa’s “Best Friend”
Zappa added that Muldoon was her “best friend.”
“The best brother / son/ uncle/ anyone could ever possibly ask for. I will have so much more to share as I know he loves this earthly realm and all he created within it.”
She shared that she will “eventually have details on when and where” they will celebrate Muldoon. As for now, Zappa and her family “are still processing” his death.
She finished by saying, “I continue to speak of him in present tense. Because his spirit is all around me. He just changed forms💫🙏🏼💚.”
Sudden Heart Attack
Patrick Muldoon passed on April 19th after suffering a sudden heart attack.
Zappa shared with TMZ that the singer was with his partner, Miriam Rothbart, on Sunday morning. He went to shower, and after he didn’t come out for a while, Rothbart went to check on him.
She found Muldoon unconscious on the bathroom floor and called paramedics. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Just two days prior, he was excitedly promoting his upcoming crime thriller film, Kockroach.
Tribute for Her Brother
After Muldoon’s death flooded the internet, Zappa went to Instagram to post a tribute for her only sibling. She posted a video of Muldoon playing the guitar and singing with his family.
In the caption, she wrote, “Those that knew my brother knew he IS the brightest light in every room, in any moment, on any day. I believe is continuing to be so in spirit.”
She added, “I choose to remember him like this from just Easter Sunday. In his most authentic self- singing, bringing joy and magic, and surrounded with those he loved. Bobo I hope you feel how many people love you.”
