Monica McNutt Slams Taylor Swift During Knicks Game, Jalen Brunson Defends McNutt

Monica McNutt slams Taylor Swift during the Knicks’ historic win. Jalen Brunson came to her McNutt’s defense, telling critics to shake it off.

During the celebrity-packed Knicks game on Wednesday, Taylor Swift was among the crowd. When sports analyst Monica McNutt noticed her, she asked, “Is that Taylor Swift down there?”

After confirming that it was the famous pop star, McNutt said, “She’s not a Knicks fan. Get out of here, girl,” per Page Six.

Upon hearing this comment, several Swifties came to Taylor’s defense, shooting comments right back at McNutt. One fan commented on McNutt’s Instagram post, saying, “She ain’t no broadcaster. ‘Get outta here, girl.'”

Upon seeing these comments, NBA champion Jalen Brunson came to her defense during an interview. “I just wanna say something to the Swifties,” Brunson said, as McNutt laughed. “She’s a really good one. Cut her some slack. It’s all good, I promise.”

The following day, McNutt spoke to TMZ about the comment, saying that she “misspoke.”

“I literally just did a piece on celebrity row. I know these folks: Ben Stiller, his wife Christine, Spike Lee,” McNutt said. “I had not seen her here, this year or last year.”

She goes on to explain, “We just saw her in Cleveland with her fiancé, obviously, Travis supports the Cavs. She didn’t have on any Knicks paraphernalia, so I did not know of her Knicks loyalty.”

The ESPN analyst is seemingly unbothered by the comments. She told the camera, “shout out T-Swift. We can be united in orange and blue.”

She continued to say, “I had just not seen her. But I’m wrong. Do your thing, Taylor!”

The Knicks came back after the opposing team had a 29-point advantage, per People. Their historic victory was celebrated by fans at the stadium and those watching from home.

“Did you see the way that game ended? Nobody cared about this!” McNutt said in reference to her Taylor Swift comment. “I knew it was a big deal on the internet, but I was too busy enjoying the actual game.”
