Celebrity Sightings at the NBA Finals Game 3 at Madison Square Garden

Madison Square Garden hasn’t hosted an NBA Finals game since 1999, and New York made sure to show up. Game 3 of the 2026 NBA Finals between the New York Knicks and the San Antonio Spurs on June 8 was less of a basketball game and more of a full-blown, celebrity sighting event.

The Knicks came into game 3 with a 2-0 series lead, and the energy inside the Garden reflected exactly that. The stands were packed with some of the biggest names in entertainment, sports, politics, you name it. MSG looked more like a red carpet than a basketball arena.

There’s something about New York in championship mode that simply hits differently. The city has been waiting for this moment for a long time, and when the Knicks are winning, everyone wants a part of it. Monday night was proof of that.

Timothée Chalamet showed up in head-to-toe orange, similar to Despicable Me’s “Vector”, proving once again that he’s not just a movie star, but that he’s a real New Yorker and a diehard Knicks fan. At this point, his courtside appearances are almost as anticipated as his film releases.

Ben Stiller was also back at MSG for Game 3, and honestly, at this point, he’s basically part of the starting lineup. He’s been a celebrity spotter at the Garden all postseason and wasn’t about to miss a Finals game at home.

Tracy Morgan was courtside too, which the crowd obviously loved. The Bronx native is one of the most recognizable faces in those seats, and seeing him there felt like part of the celebrity spotting ritual.

Tina Fey was in the building as well, because of course she was. This is New York. The list of famous faces just kept growing the longer the night went on.

Spike Lee, as always, was impossible to miss. He’s been showing up to Knicks games decked out in their gear for decades now, and his reactions alone are worth the absurd price of a finals ticket. Whether the team is winning or losing, you can count on Spike to be fully invested.

Jay-Z was spotted watching the game, alongside sports legends Eli Manning and Derek Jeter.

A-Rod also decided to make an appearance at MSG. At that point, the night started feeling less like a basketball game and more like a New York City reunion. Eli Manning at a Knicks Finals game feels right. Derek Jeter courtside feels right. The whole thing just felt like the city was celebrating itself, and the basketball was almost secondary.

The whole night had a remarkable energy to it; everyone who loves New York wanted to be in that building. And you really can’t blame them.

Now for the part that stung a little. The Spurs pulled off a 115-111 win, trimming the Knicks’ series lead to 2-1. The Garden went quiet for a moment there. After all the buildup, the energy, the celebrities, the history, San Antonio had other plans. It was the kind of loss that hurts more because of how much the moment meant.

But here’s the thing: the Knicks still lead this series, and Game 4 is also at Madison Square Garden, which means another home game, another chance, and almost certainly another round of celebrity sightings that will take over your timeline.
