Ryan Reynolds has always been seen as a nice guy who’s a family man and is devoted to wife, actress Blake Lively. However, he is now being pulled into the Lively-Baldoni case, with several threads of his texts being unsealed for everyone to see.
Reynolds might not be quite the “nice guy” he thought he was.
Ryan Reynolds Unsealed Messages
Several text messages from Ryan Reynolds have been revealed.
These include texts to his agent at WME about Baldoni, possible links to his Nicepool character in Deadpool and Wolverine, comparing the Lively-Baldoni situation to the Heard-Depp situation, and texts to Hoover about the film’s success – and a few jabs at Baldoni.
While a husband defending his wife is admirable, did Reynolds go a little too far?
Texts to his Agent at WME
Reynolds sent many long-winded messages to one of his agents at William Morris Endeavour (WME).
The bulk of his messages were targeted at Lively’s co-star Baldoni, going much farther than Taylor Swift, calling him a “doofus.” Reynolds uses several negative phrases to describe the actor, including a “predator,” “fraud,” “sociopath,” “s***ball,” “human rounding error,” and “bucket of dumb dumb juice.”
He goes on to say that Baldoni “is genuinely touched in some very strange ways. Like, a melon-baller lobotomy makes more sense than his self-propelled, malignant stupidity and revolting behavior.”
He finishes another text defending his wife, stating, “I can’t and won’t sit by watching my wife – who’s been asked to shape-shift around a problematic man since the very beginning of this movie – complete a grand slam home run . . . Only to be dragged through the mud while people ring the ‘shame bell’ behind her.”
Links to Nicepool Character
Along with text messages resurfacing, the Nicepool controversy has also gained new ammunition.
Nicepool has long been assumed to be based on Baldoni; new text messages may give more weight to the situation. In the film, Nicepool couldn’t fight in the final melee because “he has low bone density,” which is precisely one of the reasons why Baldoni was worried about picking up Lively during their sex scenes in the film It Ends With Us.
Nicepool even points out that Lady Deadpool, played by Lively, “just had a baby,” and “you can’t even tell.” This is yet another callback to the Baldoni-Lively situation, as Lively just had her fourth child and needed to know if she needed to lose weight for the Baldoni scenes.
Texts Comparing Lively-Baldoni to Heard-Depp
Another string of messages that popped up concerned Reynolds and Warren Zavala, one of his agents at WME.
The pair talked about the media storm surrounding the film and its co-stars. They went so far as to compare the situation to Amber Heard and Johnny Depp’s legal battle.
After discussing the online narrative, the two discussed Baldoni’s possible PR strategy, bringing in Heard and Depp.
Thinking the situation will blow up in Baldoni’s face, Zavala tells Reynolds, “This is all spin. I think we let it burn.” Reynolds responds with, “How did that work out for Depp??” and Zavala replied, “Not well. Cratered both of them ultimately.”
Letter to Hoover After Film Success
Finally, Reynolds’s text, well, letter, to Colleen Hoover after the film’s success grabbed the eye of some fans. Small jabs at Baldoni are scattered throughout.
While giving condolences for Hoover and her team having the stomach bug in New York. Reynolds suggests “it might be your body ridding itself of any residual Baldoni.”
He went further to say that, [he’d] rather be puking in a gulag than hijacking performative feminism while practicing personal growth catchphrases in the mirror.”
Reynolds also congratulates Hoover for her “very resolute mind and heart to process all the strange people with muddled intentions,” possibly referring to Baldoni once again.
A Husband Defending His Wife
Some of these texts may seem over the top. However, Reynolds is truly trying to protect the reputation of his wife, who’s ensnared in a scandal. Reynolds has had a large hand in It Ends with Us and wants the movie and his wife to succeed.
However, the way he went about the situation, including all the new texts that have come to light, might not have been the best route in getting there. All should hopefully be determined in the upcoming trial.
