Actor and Producer Patrick Muldoon’s Official Cause of Death Revealed

Patrick Muldoon‘s official cause of death has been revealed to the public.

Cause of Death

The Melrose Place star died from a myocardial infarction. It is a heart attack. The cause of death was on his death certificate, viewed by People.

It goes on to state pulmonary embolism and hereditary coagulopathy as underlying causes.

Coagulopathy is a genetic condition that negatively affects how the body forms blood clots. According to the Mayo Clinic, a pulmonary embolism is a blood clot blocking blood flow to an artery in the lung.

He passed on April 19th. His remains were cremated on Tuesday, April 28th.

Muldoon was just 57 years old.

Muldoon’s manager confirmed his death to Variety, stating the actor died suddenly on April 19th.

His sister, Shana Muldoon-Zappa, also confirmed the news to TMZ, sharing that the actor spent his morning with partner Miriam Rothbart.

He went to take a shower in their Beverly Hills home, and when he didn’t come back in a while, Rothbart went to investigate. She found him unconscious on the bathroom floor.

Tributes for Muldoon

According to Deadline, Muldoon was known as “Bobo” to loved ones and was described as “endlessly generous — with his poetry, his humor, and his unmistakable presence.”

His friends further shared, “[Muldoon] loved animals and people alike, gave unforgettable hugs, and possessed a rare quality of making others feel safe and seen. Stylish, charismatic, and full of life, he embraced each day with a full-tilt, rock ‘n’ roll spirit.”

Along with friends praising Muldoon, many of his former co-stars paid tribute on social media.

Alison Sweeney wrote, “Pat was a rare kind of person—brilliantly talented, endlessly kind, and generous in spirit. I was lucky to have worked with him when I first started at Days, he made me feel at ease right away. … A truly gifted guy, and one who will be profoundly missed.”

Mario Lopez wrote, “RIP my friend,” on X. Lisa Rinna posted a throwback picture of the pair with the heartbreak emoji.

His Career

Patrick Muldoon was born in the San Pedro neighborhood of Los Angeles in 1968.

During his college years at the University of Southern California, he appeared in two episodes of “Who’s the Boss?” After college, he landed a three-episode recurring role in “Saved by the Bell.”

Next, he stepped into the role of Austin Reed on “Days of Our Lives” from 1992 to 1995. He reprised the role from 2011 to 2012.

After departing “Days”, Muldoon joined “Melrose Place” as Richard Hart for Seasons 3 through 5 from 1995 to 1996.

He also appeared in the 1997 hit film “Starship Troopers,” starring alongside Denise Richards.
