Mickey Rourke Turns Down Offers, Holding Out for $200K a Day

Mickey Rourke may have been nearly evicted from his home, but he’s been picky about how to make money to stay afloat.

The Hollywood Star is looking for something in particular, according to Rourke’s manager, Kimberly Hines. Keep reading to learn more.

New Job Offers

Over the past week, Rourke has been getting a bunch of prospective job offers. Hines commented to TMZ that the offers ranged from indie films and photoshoots to live appearances and signings.

In the past two days alone, Hines has received six offers. However, Rourke is not interested.

Rivas Offer

One particular offer for Rourke is from Director Eric Spade Rivas. When he noticed reports about Rourke struggling financially, he decided to reach out.

His offer? $1,000 to cameo in Rivas’ upcoming flick Scarface Resurrection. The role would be just one scene for about two minutes, a quick in-and-out gig that pays well.

While the money isn’t a lot, it’s all he can offer as a small indie filmmaker. If Rourke decides to do so, it would be near the end of editing.

Not Enough for Mickey Rourke

While Rourke’s situation is rocky at best, Hines comments that he has a lot of pride and wants to be paid like an A-lister if he decides to take a job.

The amount he wants? A staggering $200,000 per day.

He also wants to work with top-tier actors and directors he’s worked with in the past. This includes Kim Basinger, Marisa Tomei, Evan Rachel Wood, Bruce Willis, Benicio del Toro, and Jessica Alba.

While none of the current offers have hit Rourke’s pay requirements, Hines says they’re still good opportunities alongside talented people. She believes that if Rourke focuses on quality work, the money will slowly follow.

Current Situation

As of now, Rourke is staying at a West Hollywood hotel with his three dogs. He plans to check out by the end of the week, with Hines securing him a new Los Angeles apartment.

While Hines stresses Rourke still has the talent and stamina to get back to “being at the top again,” he will have to seize the opportunity to do so, as the ball is in his court.

Denying GoFundMe Money

Making the whole situation even more interesting is the whole GoFundMe debacle. A friend created the GoFundMe page for him, which raised $100,000 to help him evade eviction.

However, Rourke has made it very clear he doesn’t plan on touching the $100,000 at all. Instead, the money will be returned to donors.

Hines commented that Rourke should recognize people want to genuinely help him, even if he sees the whole incident as “embarrassing.”

Rourke’s Career

Rourke’s career has been up and down over the decades.

The height of his career was in the 1980s and early 90s, making him one of Hollywood’s most magnetic leading men.

By the early 90s, his career faltered, and he stepped away from Hollywood and pursued professional boxing. This led to numerous injuries that would dramatically change his face.

Rourke reemerged on the Hollywood stage in 2008 with his role in The Wrestler. He went on to appear in Iron Man 2 and The Expendables, but his career would fizzle out again.

The reality is that Hines says this coming week is pivotal for Rourke. There are two options: taking the work and getting back on his feet, or continuing into a downward spiral.
