Tommy Lee Jones’ Daughter Found Dead in Hotel, Reports Say

In what is incredibly sad New Years news, Victoria Jones, 34, the daughter of actor Tommy Lee Jones was allegedly found dead in the early hours of Thursday, January 1, at the Fairmont San Francisco hotel.

In those reports, it’s stated that the San Francisco Fire Department was dispatched to a medical emergency at 2:52 a.m. She was pronounced dead at the scene after paramedics assessed the scene.

The case was then handed over to San Francisco police and the Medical Examiner for investigation. The San Francisco police confirmed that officers responded at around 3:14 a.m., to a report of a deceased person and met with paramedics at the hotel.

Officials have not released additional details, and the cause of death remains unknown.

What investigators are saying so far

NBC Bay Area reported that a police source with direct knowledge of the investigation believes the woman found dead is Victoria Jones, but said identity could not be confirmed publicly until a medical examiner formally identifies the body.

The same report mentioned she was found in a hallway of the hotel, and that foul play was not suspected.

People Magazine reported similar details, writing that the fire department confirmed a response at the Fairmont just before 3 a.m., and police said an adult female was declared dead after officers arrived and met paramedics. As People put it, the cause of death was still unknown at the time of publication.

A life mostly outside the spotlight

Victoria Jones wasn’t someone constantly in the headlines. If anything, she was an example of a celebrity child who kept her public profile private.

It has been reported that she did have a few acting credits, including a role in Men in Black II in 2002 and a one-episode appearance in One Tree Hill in 2003. TMZ adds that she was involved in The Three Burials of Melquiades Estrada, a movie directed by her father in 2005.

Victoria was born to Tommy Lee Jones and his first wife, Kimberlea Cloughley. She also had an older brother, called Austin.

Why this one lands hard for older fans

For a lot of us who grew up on Jones’ movies, he’s not just a celebrity. He’s the U.S. marshal in The Fugitive, the stone-faced presence in JFK, the grit in No Country for Old Men, the deadpan authority in Men in Black. If reports turn out true, we can only hope the family gets the privacy and support they need.

It’s important to know that officials have not confirmed identification, or how the person died. What we do know is that police sources have indicated they do not suspect foul play. At this point, that’s all that’s solid at this point.
