‘I’m Why He Was Fired’: Grey’s Anatomy Extra Targets Late Eric Dane

Allegations against Eric Dane are flying just a few days after his death.

Former Grey’s Anatomy background actress Laura Ann Tull has launched a series of social media posts about the late actor. She claims that Dane was a “bully” and an “a-hole” and that she was part of the reason he was fired.

This is not the first time she’s made allegations against Dane.

Laura Tull Speaking Out

Laura Tull worked on the Grey’s Anatomy set for a few years beginning in 2005. She posted multiple messages on Threads after the passing of Dane on February 19th.

She wrote, “He was a bully an a hole.”

In other posts, she claimed Dane mocked her on set, spoke about her behind her back, and contributed to long-term professional and personal harm.

She added, “He was a coward who abused me. Bullied me. Made fun of me. When I had beaten cancer. When I was getting sick with an autoimmune disease. He was stuck on himself narciscist. I was a girl who just wanted to be an actor and be good at it. But I really didn’t care for Beverly hills or the sham of glam of hollywood. I wouldn’t make a sex tape. He got into my business. His dying doesn’t change [the] destruction he caused me.”

She even wished the actor had acknowledged her claims before his untimely death, writing, “He just died. I only wish he’d apologized & admitted what he did.”

Reason He Was Fired

But Laura Tull wasn’t done with Eric Dane yet. She made a bigger allegation on social media, claiming, “I am why he was fired from Grey’s.”

Allegedly, Tull contacted Shonda Rhimes’ office before Dane’s departure was announced.

“I called Rhimes’ assistant two weeks before they announced his termination. Rhimes I doubt will ever admit that,” she wrote.

Dane was well-known for this role as Dr. Mark Sloan on Grey’s Anatomy, appearing on the show from 2006 to 2012.

His departure was revealed in July 2012, when Rhimes told TVLine that she and Dane “did not come to this decision lightly, but after much consideration and conversations, he and I have decided that this is the right time for his storyline to end.”

However, Dane described the moment differently in a June 2024 podcast interview, saying he believed he was “let go,” possibly due to rising cast costs.

There is no evidence to support Tull’s claim. It could have truly been budget and creative decisions that ended Dane’s time on the show.

Not the First Accusation

This is not the first time Laura Tull has called out Eric Dane.

In a June 2018 essay published in Medium, Tull talked about her time on Grey’s Anatomy.

She also wrote about Dane, explaining, “I worked on [the] set of Grey’s Anatomy for three years as an extra, but I never spoke to Dane once. But I did hear him talk about me… I am still SAG AFTRA and I want justice for Dane’s bullying.”

Timing of Allegations

Tull’s allegations quickly spread online; however, there’s no public confirmation from ABC, Shondaland, or Dane’s representatives to support her claims.

The posts have prompted a mixture of support and criticism by fans, with many questioning the timing and veracity.

While everyone should have the chance to air their opinions or grievances, making these allegations just days after Dane’s death is more than slightly problematic.

It’s important to consider all the facts when reading the allegations before concluding.
