Katy Perry is officially under investigation by Australian police after Ruby Rose posted sexual assault allegations about her.
The alleged assault happened in an Australian nightclub nearly 20 years ago, and Rose is finally speaking to police about the event.
Police Investigating

On April 15th, Victoria Police confirmed to The Sydney Morning Herald and the Herald Sun that they are investigating a historical sexual assault from 2010.
The following statement was released:
“Melbourne Sexual Offences and Child Abuse Investigation Team (SOCIT) detectives are investigating [an alleged] historical sexual assault that occurred in Melbourne in 2010. Police have been told the incident occurred at a licensed premises in Melbourne’s [Central Business District]. As the investigation remains ongoing, it would be inappropriate to comment further at this stage.”
The Alleged Assault
The sexual assault allegations popped up on Sunday. Rose replied to an article shared by Complex about Perry reacting to Justin Bieber’s Coachella performance over the weekend.
Ruby Rose wrote in the comments section, “Katy Perry sexual assaulted me at spice market nightclub in Melbourne. Who gives a s— what she thinks.”
She then went on to write, “I was only in my early 20s. I’m now 40. It has taken almost 2 decades to say this publicly…I told the story publicly but changed it to be a ‘funny little drunk story’ because I didn’t know how else to handle it. Later she agreed to help me get my US visa. So I kept it a secret. But I DID tell yall she wasn’t a good person. Instead I got attacked by…everyone.”
She added, “Though I am so grateful to have made it long enough to find my voice, it just shows how much of an impact trauma and sexual assault takes.”
In another Threads post, a fan referenced Perry’s hit song “I Kissed a Girl.” They stated, “She kissed a girl and you didn’t like it?”
Rose responded, “She didn’t kiss me. She saw me ‘resting’ on my best friends lap to avoid her and bent down, pulled her underwear to the side and rubbed her disgusting vagina on my face until my eyes snapped open and I projectile vomited on her.”
Speaking Out
While Rose had previously claimed she was “not interested in filing a report over this,” her feelings have since changed.
The day she went to the police, she posted on Threads. “Today I will be walking into a police station to see if any of my experiences can be investigated. I imagine they are past their statute of limitations, but all the more reason to try.”
Along with her admission on Threads about the alleged sexual assault, she went on to claim Perry is “more than welcome to sue me (she won’t, because it happened, I have photos and it was literally in public and witnessed by multiple people).”
She added, “Plus there is so much more that happened in the years leading up to her silly song she won’t want me discussing. The psychological manipulation was strong with that one.”
Denying the Claims
Not long after Ruby Rose posted her claims, a representative for Perry fired back.
They said, “The allegations being circulated on social media by Ruby Rose about Katy Perry are not only categorically false, they are dangerous, reckless lies. Ms. Rose has a well-documented history of making serious public allegations on social media against various individuals, claims that have repeatedly been denied by those named.”
Rose Being Able to Heal
Rose confirmed to the Herald Sun and posted on Threads about taking the matter to the police.
She shared on Tuesday, “As of this afternoon, I have finalised all my reports. This means I am no longer able to comment, repost, or talk publicly about any of those cases, or the individuals involved.”
She added, “It’s going to look like I am ignoring everything from supportive messages, to other people’s experiences, but I’m not. This is a standard request from the police and in many ways, quite the relief. I can start the healing process now. And temporary move forward. I love you all so much.”
