While the spotlight is often on those winning the awards at the Golden Globes, that doesn’t mean the focus doesn’t shift to the audience.
Lip readers are hitting social media with their interpretations of conversations held by various celebrities, but one of the most prominent is a supposed “secret fight” between Kylie Jenner and Timothée Chalamet.
Keep reading to learn more.
What the Lipreader Saw
According to Nicola Hickling, who was quoted in the Daily Mail, there was a heated argument between the pair of superstars.
As they were taking their seats before the ceremony, Hickling alleges that Timothée leaned toward Kylie and whispered, “You must hate me.” She responded, “Yes,” before adding, “Were you worried?”
He reportedly replies with, “You look bothered,” to which Jenner replies, “Not here. You’re annoying.”
Displays of Affection
However, there is some evidence that contradicts the lipreader’s findings.
Timothée Chalamet and Kylie Jenner have long known to be affectionate in public. This was very true for the rest of the evening. The pair shared several kisses and other affectionate actions throughout the evening.
Plus, when Chalamet won Best Actor for his role in Marty Supreme, Kylie is seen mouthing, “I’m so happy.”
In his acceptance speech, Chalamet thanked her. He said the award was, “for my parents, for my partner, I love you so much.”
Other Instances Stirring Speculation
However, there are a few other moments prompting some questions with fans about the pair’s connection.
While Chalamet did mention Jenner in his speech, some fans noted it was more subdued than his declaration of love for her at the Critics’ Choice Awards just a week prior.
This also followed a deliberate snub on the red carpet, as the actor arrived by himself at the ceremony. Jenner only appeared next to him once they settled into their seats. Plus, it didn’t help that Jenner was wearing an absolutely stunning gown, reminiscent of the Golden Globes trophy.
Needless to say, even though they shared several kisses during the night, fans and reporters alike are interested in whether there’s truly trouble in paradise or not.
