This 43-year-old Devil Wears Prada star has dealt with a lot of facelift speculation. Though she planned to remain silent on the matter, Anne Hathaway speaks up about the allegations.

In an interview with Elle, Anne Hathaway set the record straight, confirming that she has never undergone plastic surgery of any kind. In response to the speculation, she said, “We’re at a time when people feel very confident in assuming what they think is fact, and sometimes what they think is accurate and sometimes it’s not.”
Disturbed by the rumors, Anne Hathaway made an Instagram post revealing her secret the night before the interview. Not a facelift, but two braids. Using a trick her hairstylist showed her, Hathaway creates two small braids near her temples, pulls them back, and pins them in place.

“My preference would be to never comment on anything and to just live in the mystery and not draw attention to myself,” Hathaway shared. “But the speculation has gotten so loud that you do feel the need to just get your truth out there.”
Hathaway shares that she will probably always wonder if posting that video was the right move. Ultimately, she felt “the conversation was becoming distracting.”
She further discusses the huge medical decision that comes with a facelift. Wanting to steer clear of rumors, she adds, “I wanted to show that, like, no, I didn’t make a huge medical decision. It’s just two braids.”

While Hathaway was adamant about sharing the truth, she is confident in herself and her decisions. She tells the interviewer, “And by the way, the other thing about all this is, I might still get a facelift someday.”
While the rumors were not ideal, Hathaway is glad the rumors came now instead of earlier in her career. As Hathaway’s career has grown, so has her confidence. She attributes this growth to the people who have shaped her and her career: “to have become a more positive person, to have become a healthier person, to have become a safer person, I was really happy that I could share that with people who were so formative and responsible for so many of the beautiful things that I have in my life.”
