Haylie Duff and her former longtime fiancé, Matt Rosenberg, have split.
Announcing the Split
A representative for Duff told Page Six that Duff and Rosenberg “ended their relationship around the first of the year.”
The rep added, “She asks for privacy at this time in protection of her young daughters.”
The former couple has two daughters together — Ryan Ava Erhard (10) and Lulu Gray (7).
As of now, it’s unclear what led to the breakup.
Views on Wedding
Postponing a wedding date was not due to hesitancy, but a baby on the way. They originally postponed the wedding date when it was revealed that Duff was pregnant with Ryan.
While talks started happening, so too did another child.
Duff shared with People a statement about postponing before their second child. “We talk about it and think, ‘Maybe now we’re ready to do it,’ and then life happens and toddler happens. Maybe after the craziness of a new baby dies down we’ll be ready to talk about it again.”
After the birth of her two children, a wedding day looked a little different to Duff. She shared, “I just probably won’t be in, like, a big wedding dress like I thought I would be. I think, like, we’re older, first of all, too, you know, both of our kids would be there. I think it’s been reimagined a little bit, which is exciting.”
In 2021, Duff talked about marriage again with Page Six. This time, though, it was prompted by the eldest child, Ryan, asking when Duff and Rosenberg would get married.
Duff said, “We feel married in a lot of ways. I mean, we couldn’t be more married if we tried. We’ve got two kids and couldn’t be more married if we tried, but I think both of us envisioned doing it in Texas, and so now that we’re here, the conversations are happening a little more often than they were before.”
Duff and Rosenberg’s Relationship
Duff and Rosenberg have been together for a long time.
They started dating in the early 2010s, and just a year and a half later, Rosenberg proposed on April Fool’s Day in 2014. Not long after their engagement, the pair started their family.
They welcomed Ryan Ava in 2015, and just a few years later, came Lula Gray in 2018.
When talking about her relationship with Rosenberg to People, Duff commented that they are “very different in a lot of ways.”
“I think really when he became close with my family, and I saw how simpatico everybody was, that’s when I was like, ‘Okay, so not only do I love him, but they love him too,'” she shared. “And I feel like that’s the way it’s supposed to be.”
The comment came just two months after their engagement.
