Former NBA Star Dwight Howard Seeks Divorce After Wife’s Bombshell Video

Former NBA star Dwight Howard filed for divorce from his wife, Amber Howard, also known as Amber Luciani. The divorce filing comes just hours after Luciani made huge allegations against him on social media.

This caps the end of a tumultuous relationship after just one year of marriage.

Howard Files for Divorce

According to court documents, Howard Dwight filed for divorce on Monday morning. He listed the marriage date as January 11th, 2025.

While they are not separated, Dwight said the marriage was “irretrievably broken” and that there is “no hope of reconciliation.” The pair has no children together.

Dwight also requested exclusive access to his Georgia mansion during the divorce proceedings.

Luciani’s Instagram Post

The divorce filing comes just a couple of days after Luciani made some pretty bold claims against Howard on Instagram Live.

She accused the former NBA star of being addicted to drugs and claimed Child Protective Services had taken his daughter from the home. Luciani further said that CPS visited the home multiple times before removing his daughter.

She said, “CPS has been here three times in less than three months. … I’ve been trying to tell everybody, he needs some help.”

Rocky Relationship

Ever since the start of their relationship, the pair have been on shaky terms. They went public with their relationship in December 2024, and just one month later, they married in January 2025. During that time, Howard called Luciani his “perfect person” in a now-deleted Instagram post.

Just a few months after their marriage, Howard and Luciani dropped into headlines when she filed a family violence ex parte protective order against him. Luciani claimed Howard slipped her a drug and got physical during an argument. Howard denied all allegations.

Then, six months after their marriage, Howard filed for divorce in June 2025, but it was later dismissed. Luciani also filed for divorce, but in July 2025, that petition was also dismissed.

They attempted to continue the marriage, but the cracks were already laid.

Just a few weeks before the most recent divorce filing, the police were reportedly called multiple times to Howard’s home. A Gwinnett County Police Department representative shared that the officers responded to a suicide threat, a domestic incident, and a theft report.

None of the details about what led to each call has been released.
