Brooks and Kruger Divorce

The split was first announced by TV Insider, where the couple provided a joint statement: “We’re committed to coparenting our two children and remaining friends.”

The court papers, filed in January, mentioned the two children: Everleigh (6) and Gemma (4).

Within the joint court filing, the reason for the split was “irreconcilable differences.”

Love Story

Darin Brooks and Kelly Kruger didn’t meet on The Young and the Restless or The Bold and the Beautiful.

Instead, they met in 2010 when Kelly guest-starred on Brooks’ Blue Mountain State. The short-lived TV series was a collegiate football sitcom, also starring Denise Richards and Alan Ritchson.

During a 2016 interview with Soaps.com, Brooks said they quickly became best friends, and “for a good 3 to 6 months [Kruger] was telling me who to date.”

He shared, “We were spending so much time together, and one day I just grabbed her head, and I kissed her.”

They ended up working on set together again when Brooks joined The Bold and the Beautiful in 2013, with Kruger cast the following year.

They got engaged in June 2014 and later wed in Hawaii in March 2016.

Their first daughter, Everleigh, was born in September 2019, while their second daughter, Gemma, was born in January 2022.

Presence on Soap Operas

Kruger and Books are well-known in the soap opera world, finding their footing in daytime television in the early 2000s.

Brooks started his acting career in 2005 on Days of Our Lives, taking over the role of Max Brady from Ryan Brennan, playing the character through 2010. He earned several Daytime Emmy nominations during that time.

He then switched to The Bold and the Beautiful in 2013 to play Wyatt Spencer, earning another Emmy nomination and ending his run in 2024. During that time, he also appeared in a few crossover episodes of The Young and the Restless.

Kruger got her acting start in 2002 on The Young and the Restless, taking over the character of Mackenzie Browning for Ashley Bashioum. That role lasted two years, with another stint later in 2018 and 2019.

She then landed a role on The Bold and the Beautiful in 2013 as the publicist Eva, and eventually ended her time on the show in 2021.
