VACUUM BUTT THERAPY: When it comes to cosmetic treatments, it’s still all about that base. Butt augmentation is the fastest-growing procedure in plastic surgery, with the number of procedures performed doubling since 2013, according to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons.

Commonly known as the Brazilian butt lift, the procedure is performed using liposuction and fat transfer (and in some cases combined with gluteal implants) to enhance the size and shape of the buttocks.

But despite its popularity, the surgical butt lift has its downsides. For starters, it has the highest complication rate in plastic surgery, and it comes with up to eight weeks of downtime. Side effects often include pain, fluid accumulation, and excessive bleeding:

Plus, the procedure isn’t cheap, either, averaging around $5000. So, it makes sense that patients are seeking non-surgical alternatives. One such procedure gaining popularity is vacuum therapy butt.

What is Vacuum Butt Therapy?

Unlike the Brazilian butt lift, vacuum therapy (also known as vacuotherapy) is noninvasive and tones your tush without the use of incisions. Similar to a lymphatic drainage massage, vacuum butt therapy is a massaging technique that helps lift and contour the buttocks via a suction device equipped with glass cups. After a mini massage, two small suction cups are moved over the thigh and buttocks area, manipulating the tissue, then two larger suction cups are sealed over each side of the butt for approximately 30 minutes.

The process is said to improve lymphatic drainage, stimulate the muscles, break down and shift fat deposits, and stimulate the hypodermis, all of which combine to provide increased toning effects and give the appearance of a smoother, firmer, more lifted backside. According to Dr. Steve Fallek, Board Certified Plastic Surgeon of BeautyFix, vacuum butt therapy “provide[s] instant results and further lifts the buttocks by up to 70 percent.” Some providers say one session is the equivalent of 1,500 squats.

Vacuum butt therapy also poses fewer risks and side effects than surgical butt augmentation without extensive downtime. Because it is a non-invasive procedure, it’s virtually pain-free; though, you may experience a slight pinching sensation as the cups are being applied or removed. After the treatment, you can expect mild side effects, such as swelling and tightness in the area treated, both of which are said to dissipate quickly.

It’s important to note that the results aren’t permanent and require multiple sessions. Experts recommend anywhere from two to eight sessions, depending on your muscle definition and skin elasticity, to achieve the optimal effect. On average, each session will cost you around $100-150. And to keep your booty looking lifted, you’ll also want to continue with regular exercise (read: the exact number of squats to daily) and consider yearly maintenance.

The takeaway? If you’re looking for subtle, natural-looking results, then vacuum butt therapy is worth a try. While it won’t give you that Kim Kardashian shape, it’ll enhance the shape of your booty with less of a paid-for look, if you know what I mean.
