Instant Pot Chicken Shawarma Ingredients

  • 1 pound of boneless, skinless chicken thighs, cut into bite-sized pieces (450g)
  • 2 tablespoons of olive oil (30ml)
  • 1 tablespoon of lemon juice (15ml)
  • 2 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon of ground cumin (5ml)
  • 1 teaspoon of paprika (5ml)
  • 1/2 teaspoon of ground coriander (2g)
  • 1/2 teaspoon of ground turmeric (2g)
  • 1/2 teaspoon of cinnamon (2g)
  • 1/4 teaspoon of cayenne pepper (1g)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Pita bread or rice (for serving)
  • Toppings including lettuce, tomatoes, cucumbers, and tahini sauce

Instant Pot Chicken Shawarma Instructions

  1. Stir olive oil, lemon juice, garlic, cumin, paprika, coriander, turmeric, cinnamon, cayenne, salt, and pepper in a bowl.
  2. Add the chicken and coat it well, then marinate for at least 30 minutes, or overnight if you have the time.
  3. Set the Instant Pot to Sauté.
  4. Add the marinated chicken and cook for 5 minutes, just until it starts to brown.
  5. Lock the lid and set to Pressure Cook for 10 minutes.
  6. Quick release the pressure when the timer ends.
  7. Serve hot with wraps, pita bread or rice, then pile on lettuce, tomatoes, and cucumber.
  8. Finish with tahini sauce.
