Some food trends come and go, but this classic garlic bread recipe sticks. If you’re looking for something great to serve with your main, this classic side can be relied upon. Check out the ingredients and steps below.

Garlic Bread Ingredients

  • 1 loaf French or Italian bread (about 12-14 inches long)
  • 1/2 of cup unsalted butter (softened)
  • 4 large garlic cloves (minced)
  • 2 tbsp of fresh parsley (finely chopped)
  • 1 tbsp of fresh dill (finely chopped)
  • 1/4 cup of grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/4 tsp of salt

Garlic Bread Instructions

  1. Heat the oven to 375°F and line a baking sheet with aluminum foil.
  2. Stir softened butter, minced garlic, parsley, dill, parmesan, and salt until smooth and spreadable.
  3. If your butter is stubborn, warm it for 5–10 seconds, then mix again.
  4. Slice the bread lengthwise into two even halves.
  5. Set both halves cut-side up on the baking sheet.
  6. Score shallow diagonal cuts in the bread first, but don’t cut through.
  7. Spread the garlic butter all the way to the edges.
  8. Loosely tent with foil and bake for 10 minutes so the butter melts and sinks in.
  9. Remove the foil and bake for 7 minutes more, until the edges turn golden and crisp. Watch closely at the end.
  10. Let the bread rest for 2 minutes, slice into small pieces, and serve warm.
