If you’re looking for a cookie that tastes great and is easy to bake, these almond crescents are spot-on.
They are perfect for year-round celebrations. So you’ll no doubt spot them on cookie trays, or next to coffee cups, usually dusted in powdered sugar, throughout the year.
They’re delicate without the fuss, and pack a fantastic almond flavor.
On the East Coast, I like having a simple bake like this in my back pocket, especially when neighbors pop in and you want to offer something that feels thoughtful (without a big cook time).
Check out the recipe below to make these buttery, almond crescent cookies.
Almond Crescent Cookies Ingredients
- 200g (1 3/4 cups) all-purpose flour
- 100g (3/4 cup + 2 tbsp) almond flour
- 100g (1/2 cup) granulated sugar
- 240g (1 cup) unsalted butter, softened
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 teaspoon almond extract
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 60g (1/2 cup) powdered sugar for dusting
Almond Crescent Cookies Instructions
- Heat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone mat.
- Cream the softened butter and granulated sugar until it looks light and fluffy, about 3 minutes on a medium speed.
- Blend in the vanilla, almond extract, and salt. Scrape the bowl once.
- Add the all-purpose flour and almond flour a little at a time, mixing on low until the dough comes together. Soft is good. Sticky is not. If it sticks to your hands, add all-purpose flour 1 tablespoon at a time.
- Scoop about 1 tablespoon of dough. Roll into a ball, then shape it into a crescent by thinning the ends and gently bending it.
- Set the crescents on the baking sheet about 1 inch apart.
- Bake them in the oven for 12 to 15 minutes, just until the edges start to turn pale golden. Over baking these cookies dries them out.
- Let the cookies cool on the pan for 5 minutes, then move them to a rack to cool completely.
- Dust with powdered sugar once they’re cool. Use a sifter if you want a finer coat.
