Helen Mirren Takes to Social Media After On-set Feud With Tom Hardy

While working on Paramount+ series MobLand, Helen Mirren and Tom Hardy were not known to get along. According to Page Six, Mirren had reported becoming “increasingly frustrated” with Hardy’s attitude. Despite the on-set feud, Mirren still has positive things to say on social media.

Both Hardy’s tone and his lack of punctuality were a source of frustration for Mirren. Reportedly, Hardy was fired from working on the series as a result of this on-set feud, alongside other tensions on set with people like Jez Butterworth.

Hardy was also known to change dialogue and give script notes, which contributed to the negative reputation he developed on set.

Hardy “swaggers around like a king,” according to Mirren, per Page Six. She describes him as “very, very arrogant” and says she “expects better.”

Sources raved about working with Mirren, however, saying she “is a joy. She is a total pro, and she has worked with so many people over the years.” She was also described as “extremely professional and disciplined,” which is a sharp contrast to Hardy’s reported behaviors.

Regardless of this controversy, Mirren took to social media to share an image of Hardy on Instagram, saying, “Love you now and always.” Per Page Six, Hardy has not responded with a comment. Mirren is said to “hold people to a high standard,” leaving fans to wonder why she was prompted her to make this post.

Later, it was reported that Hardy was not fired from the film. The executive producer — Guy Ritchie — is “pushing to make it work.”

With such a popular show, a cancellation or a cast change could result in a lot of disappointed fans. Per Page Six, a source told Variety that “The door is not closed for Season 3 and things are being worked through creatively.”

MobLand features two powerful London families competing to expand their influence across the city. Though there is only one season out right now, season 2 is coming in the near future.

Sources suggest that this on-set feud will not lead to a cancellation or recasting of any kind.
