Stalkers have forced Nikki Sixx to go to extra measures to protect his family.
The Mötley Crüe bassist revealed that repeated stalking incidents and threats against his family have prompted him to stop sharing photos of his daughter Ruby online.
Staying off Socials
In an additional step to protect himself and his family, Sixx has armed himself. The topic was prompted during an exchange on social media. A fan asked Sixx why Ruby was no longer on his social media.
The rocker responded with this comment: “Because we’ve been stalked and our family has been threatened multiple times the last few years. Some are in jail now, but Ruby doesn’t need to be exposed to millions of people, mostly cool fans but she is more important to us than posting photos and from experience, it’s proven to not be safe for her.”
While most fans are supportive of his decision, it doesn’t matter to Sixx. His biggest priority is his daughter’s safety.
Blunt Magazine added an interesting take on the decision, as stalking highlights “an uncomfortable truth about celebrity culture—fame doesn’t come with immunity from harm.”
Arming Himself
Many of these stalking incidents and threats have escalated far beyond online noise. It provides a platform for Sixx to stand on in terms of arming himself.
In another post on X, Sixx announced the decision was more necessity than bravado. “We have strong law enforcement relationships (as well as lawyers who have put stalkers in jail) but we also live in Wyoming on private property and we are locked and loaded and know our rights to protect our family. Nothing in my life matters more than my family.”
Past Incidents
There are multiple incidents when it comes to stalking and the Sixx family. One time, Sixx commented, “a deranged woman from Tennessee, who I have never met or seen before, targeted my wife and child with threats and deaths of bodily harm. This was not some internet troll but someone who was convinced that she was somehow connected to me.”
Further, the woman’s harassment “went on for a long time and got progressively more scary, forcing me to go to court several times and obtain restraining orders.” The woman violated the restraining orders multiple times and was held in contempt of court and arrested.
Keeping His Family Safe
However, there is a shining light, as some of the stalkers are in jail. Instead of keeping Ruby’s face on his social media, Sixx has decided to keep her out of the limelight of millions of people.
Most of those fans just want the best for the family. Others could pose future threats, and Nikki Sixx is not having that.
Sixx’s older kids also value their privacy, and this may be an enduring theme in keeping Ruby’s face off the internet as much as possible.
