King Charles and Queen Camilla Confirm Visit to US After Trump’s Invitation

King Charles and Queen Camilla are making their way across the pond to the United States for his first State Visit as King. Palace officials and President Trump confirmed the announcement, with the visit planned in late April.

King Charles Plans a Visit

The King and Queen have planned a State Visit to the United States of America in April. Along with visiting the US, the trip will include a visit to Bermuda for King Charles.

The pair will join President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump as they celebrate the “historic connections and the modern bilateral relationship” between the two countries.

The trip will be during the US’s 250th anniversary of independence, and Charles’ trip to Bermuda will be the first as a monarch to a British Overseas Territory.

Official Statements

Buckingham Palace released a statement on March 31st.

“On advice of His Majesty’s Government, and at the invitation of The President of the United States, The King and Queen will undertake a State Visit to the United States of America. Their Majesties’ program will celebrate the historic connections and the modern bilateral relationship between the United Kingdom and the United States, marking the 250th anniversary of American Independence. The King will then continue to Bermuda to undertake His Majesty’s first Royal Visit as Monarch to a British Overseas Territory.”

President Trump also announced the visit on Truth Social.

“Melania and I are pleased to announce that their majesties, the king and queen of the United Kingdom, will visit the United States for a historic state visit from April 27-30th, which will include a beautiful banquet dinner at the White House on the evening of April 28th. This momentous occasion will be even more special this year, as we commemorate the 250th anniversary of our great country.”

He added that he looks “forward to spending time with the King, whom I greatly respect,” stating, “It will be TERRIFIC!”

Trump’s 2025 Visit

This visit will be a return invitation after King Charles and Queen Camilla hosted the Trumps in September 2025. British royals greeted the visitors with a ceremonial welcome and carriage procession, along with a state banquet at Windsor Castle.

The 2026 visit will arrive amid tensions due to the conflict with Iran. Relations between the US and the UK are strained. Trump blamed the UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer for being slow to support his bombing campaign using British bases.

Queen Elizabeth’s State Visits

While this may be Charles’ first State Visit to the US as King, his mother, Queen Elizabeth, visited several times. She came to the US in 1957, 1976, 1991, and 2007.

As Prince of Wales, King Charles has been 19 times, including with Camilla in 2005.
