Djimon Hounsou‘s altercation with ex-girlfriend and baby mama, Ri’za Marie Simpson, is heading towards legal channels.
After a domestic dispute in which Simpson was arrested for alleged assault, she has come out and said she’s the one who needs protection, not Hounsou.
A New Side to the December Story
After the arrest, Simpson claims she was wrongfully detained, bringing a new side of the story to light.
According to Simpson, Hounsou closed a vehicle door on her body, shouted directly at her, and used derogatory language. Ri’za backed up her claim with recorded audio, revealing the argument between the two before the fight.
In the clip, Ri’za asks for her keys back, telling Hounsou he doesn’t have the right to kick her out of the residence, and that she would call the cops if he kept refusing. You can even hear Hounsou allegedly calling her a “bitter f***ing divorced person.”
After the recording ended, Ri’za claims Housou closed a car door on her.
However, Hounsou’s version of events differs significantly. He reported to the Atlanta Police Department that Simpson struck him with a closed fist after trying to remove her from the property.
Simpson was later arrested on simple assault and obstruction charges, the latter coming from allegations that Simpson provided false information during questioning.
Who’s the Actual Victim?
After the arrest, Ri’za fought back, saying she was wrongfully arrested and had suffered financial abuse and an attempted illegal eviction from Hounsou. She tells the December story to officials, claiming she slammed a door on her, screamed in her face, and called her names.
And that wasn’t the only incident she brought to light, either. Ri’za continued to prove that she was, in fact, the victim. She brought up a separate incident in October when Hounsou got in her face in front of their children.
Hounsou allegedly began to “come at” her, yelling and standing face-to-face with her in the heated exchange. Hounsou has allegedly put her through financial mistreatment and the attempted eviction from her home as well.
Next Steps in the Legal Battle
After asking for a protective order, Simpson was granted it by a Georgia judge. The order goes against Djimon Hounsou.
This ruling bars Housnou from contacting Simpson. He also cannot come within 200 yards of her and the children until a court hearing in early February. Simpson is expected to appear during the February hearing, with her legal counsel prepped to challenge the assault allegations.
As of now, it is not confirmed whether additional charges will be filed.
