The Wedding Snag
An insider has claimed wedding plans have been put on hold for the time being, due to his children.
According to the National Enquirer, both of his children are “steadfastly loyal” to their mother, Deborra-Lee Furness. They are still not totally on board with their father’s new love, especially after the divorce.
The insider noted, “Hugh really wants his kids at the wedding. They both want their loved ones with them to celebrate.”
The source added, “Even though Hugh is excited to start this next chapter with Sutton, he has to be sensitive to his kids. They’re incredibly protective of their mother… he wants to be respectful of that.”
Jackman wants his kids to see his nuptials, and doesn’t seem to be willing to have the wedding without them there.
Jackman and Foster’s Romance
Hugh Jackman and Sutton Foster first met while starring together in Broadway’s The Music Man in 2021. The Broadway production ran until 2023. When they first met, they were both married to other people.
Jackman and Foster were first romantically linked in late 2024, but the relationship wasn’t confirmed until January 2025. The pair was photographed holding hands on a dinner date in Santa Monica.
Rumors emerged that Jackman may have proposed during a romantic New Year getaway to Costa Rica, where the pair was spotted cuddling and splashing in the blue waters together.
According to insiders, the proposal was a long time coming. Not long after the proposal, wedding plans were well underway.
Planned Nuptials
First reports of the nuptials appeared in January when an insider told New Idea the couple was set on walking down the aisle.
“[Hugh’s] told his team to keep a big window open for him and Sutton to tie the knot and have a honeymoon tour of Europe, where they can see his mom,” the insider claimed.
The couple seems to be planning a small, “intimate” ceremony in New York during the spring or summer. Attendees will include close family and “theatre pals.”
Another source commented, “Hugh and Sutton are full of excitement about all the next steps that they can finally take. They spent so long feeling like they couldn’t live out loud, but now that they are finally a public couple, things are moving very quickly.”
While their wedding may be snagged for right now, the couple is believed to be quietly enjoying their engagement.
“Hugh’s never been happier. They’re head over heels in love,” the source added.
Divorce from Deborra-lee
Hugh Jackman and Deborra-Lee Furness’s divorce shocked fans and Hollywood alike. The pair announced their separation in September 2023 after nearly three decades together.
The divorce was finalized in June 2025.
After the divorce was final, Furness released a cryptic comment.
She said, “My heart and compassion goes out to everyone who has traversed the traumatic journey of betrayal.”
