Kim Zolciak and Kroy Biermann Take Step Forward in Long Divorce Battle

After years of struggle, there is finally some progress in the Kim Zolciak and Kroy Biermann divorce.

The pair seems to have reached a custody agreement, though it is only temporary.

After nearly 11 years of marriage, the pair have been trying to divorce each other for years, with the children’s custody at the center.

Temporary Custody Agreement

The Real Housewives of Atlanta star Kim Zolciak and former NFL player Kroy Biermann have reached a temporary custody agreement after more than two years of a divorce battle.

The custody agreement centers around their four minor children, sons KJ, Kash, and Kane, and daughter, Kaia. The pair have six kids in total, with the oldest two daughters being Zolciak’s biological children that Biermann later adopted. They do not fit under the minor ruling, though.

The estranged couple had a mediation on January 27th, according to TMZ, and came to an agreement. However, as for what the agreement entails, nobody is sure.

All we know is that the documents state a deal has been made.

Custody of the Kids

The divorce battle isn’t just affecting Zolciak and Biermann. The pair have been entangled in an ongoing custody battle for their four minor children, too.

Both of them are seeking sole physical custody, accusing each other of unfit parenting. The pair seemed to be working well with a split-custody arrangement, with each parent having two children at all times, with a week-by-week exchange.

This ended in April 2025 when they were forced to move out of their Georgia mansion.

Just a couple of months later, in June 2025, Zolciak accused Biermann of “not providing” for their kids and being “financially unfit.” She then sought sole custody of their children.

The next update was in August 2025, when Biermann demanded sole custody of the children. He accused Zolciak of neglect and “emotional and psychological abuse,” and sought sole custody due to the “noteworthy absence of structure and accountability” in Zolciak’s home.

Long-Running Divorce Battle

Kim Zolciak and Kroy Biermann first filed for divorce in May 2023, amidst rumors about their financial situation. In July 2024, the pair briefly reconciled before Biermann filed for divorce again in August 2024, and then again in early 2025.

They did take a step forward in April 2025, moving out of their home. However, the Georgia home was sold in January 2025 for $2.8 million after price cuts, and the family failed to move out. Instead, they were “ejected” by U.S. Marshals in April.

Later that year, Zolciak reportedly began dating someone new, and Biermann has hinted at romantic involvements, too.

Flash forward to 2026, Zolciak showed off her new home in a January Instagram story. Biermann has been much more private with his life now and is believed to be living in the Atlanta area.

Fan Reactions

The continued saga of the pair’s divorce has been widely spread and discussed on social media, including by Real Housewives of Atlanta fans.

One person noted on X, “The fact that she’s even getting temporary custody after the way she’s treated him is a joke. Kroy needs to take the kids and run before she sells the furniture out from under them.”

Another fan wrote, “Sounds like a step toward reducing conflict, at least for now.”

A final person added, “They are adults, they should do what’s best for them and the kids.”
