We love pulled pork sandwiches in our house. Many consider these as a a staple of American comfort cuisine. The sandwiches featuring tender, slow-cooked pork shoulder smothered in a a sweet or tangy BBQ sauce (we love tangy). Beloved for its smoky flavor and melt-in-your-mouth texture these sandwiches are a favorite for dinner, get togethers, or cookouts.

Ingredients

  • 3 pounds pork shoulder
  • 1 cup BBQ sauce
  • 1 onion, sliced
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional, for heat)
  • 6 hamburger buns
  • Coleslaw (for topping, optional)

Instructions

  1. Place the pork shoulder in a slow cooker and add the sliced onion, minced garlic, paprika, black pepper, salt, and cayenne pepper if using.
  2. Pour the BBQ sauce over the pork, ensuring it is well coated. Cover and cook on low for 8 hours, or until the pork is tender and easily shredded.
  3. Once cooked, remove the pork from the slow cooker and shred it using two forks. Return the shredded pork to the slow cooker and mix it with the remaining sauce.
  4. Toast the hamburger buns lightly and pile the pulled pork onto each bun. Top with coleslaw if desired.
  5. Serve the BBQ pulled pork sandwiches hot and enjoy.
